The difference between a Unisa student card and a Unisa access card
As part of their first study pack for the academic year, all registered Unisa students will receive a paper student card.
Your student card verifies that you are a Unisa student and enables you access to Unisa examinations, among other things, when accompanied by your ID or passport.
If you lose your student card, send an email to despatch@unisa.ac.za to seek a replacement.

Access card for Unisa
It is NOT necessary to have a Unisa access card.
If you wish to use the Unisa Library, you only need a Unisa access card.
To register on myUnisa or to claim your myLife e-mail account, you do not need a Unisa access card.

Only a certain number of cards can be issued per day at the card issuing facilities on the Muckleneuk and Sciences Campuses.
As a result, when you come at the office, you will be given a number.
The line will be limited to a particular amount of pupils every day.
You will have to return the next day for assistance if you do not receive a number when you arrive at the office.
