Western TVET Institute Admission Requirements for TVET Colleges

NC(V) Course Requirements

  • Students may study for up to four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4, taking into account possible subject failures.
  • NQF1 (Grade 9) and AET Level 4 are the minimum entry criteria.
    The NC (V) policy has led and aligned the entry requirements. For qualification admission, a point system will be used.

Standards for Report 191 Courses;

  • Minimum standards for admission in accordance with NATED Policy. Students admitted to N4 will have completed Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4.
  • Requirements for Occupational Courses: Students who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 and want to pursue an artisan vocation will be admitted to N1 based on a point system;
  • Minimum entrance standards for registered skills programs and apprenticeships that have been approved by QCTO/SETA
    A student who has previously enrolled in NC(V) or Report 191 programs will only be taken into consideration if they have successfully finished the NC(V) or Report 191 program (passed all subjects)

Additional Requirements for Entry

  • To increase the effectiveness and quality of specialized programs, the College Council has established additional admission requirements using a point system for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1, and Report 191 N4.

  • Before applying, please read the minimal prerequisites.
  • Westcol retains the right to discontinue or relocate a program due to insufficient student enrollment.
  • We will communicate with you by email, thus you must have an active e-mail account.
  • You must constantly check your email in order to avoid missing any contact.
  • All documents must be original certified copies, and the certification cannot be older than 6 months.

  • Evidence of residency

  • All first-time applicants are required to complete the PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT in its entirety. This is NOT a pass/fail test.
