INTRODUCTION TO VHEMBE TVET COLLEGE
Vhembe TVET College, formerly known as Bantu State School, was founded in 1963. Due to its variety, the institution was renamed Bantu Trade School in 1967. Finyazwanda College was the school’s name until 1992, when it was renamed Technical College of Venda (Techniven) until 2003. From 2003 to 2014, we were known as Vhembe FET College.
The college is presently named as Vhembe TVET College and has six campuses: Makwarela Campus, Tshisimani Campus, Mashamba Campus, Mavhoi Campus, Thengwe Campus, Shingwedzi Campus, and Makhado Satellite Campus. Vhembe TVET College is situated in the Vhembe District Municipality, in the Limpopo Province’s far north.
Thulamela, Makhado, Lim 345 (Collins Chabane Municipality), and Musina are the four municipalities that make up the District, with Thohoyandou serving as the seat.
It covers 21, 000 km2, or 18% of the province’s total area.
Makwarela, Mashamba, Mavhoi, Tshisimani, Thengwe, and the newly opened Shingwedzi are the college’s six campuses.
Vhembe TVET College’s Central Office is located in Sibasa, about 3 kilometers from Makwarela Campus, 49 kilometers from Mavhoi, 77 kilometers from Mashamba, 31 kilometers from Tshisimani Campus, and 29 kilometers from Thengwe Campus in Mutale. It specializes in learnerships and short skills courses, as well as NCV and Report 191 Business Studies programs. The college and the DHET have developed the Shingwedzi Campus in Malamulele, which will open in 2017 and is 42 kilometers from the Central Office, as well as a satellite campus in Musina.

VHEMBE TVET COLLEGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
NC(V) Course Requirements;
The students are permitted to study for a maximum of four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4 taking into account possible subject failures.
- Minimum entrance requirements are NQF1 i.e. Grade 9 and AET Level 4
- Entry requirements have been guided and aligned to the NC (V) policy. A point system for entry into qualifications will be utilized.
Occupational Courses Requirements
- Minimum entrance requirements as per registered Skills Program/Learnership approved by QCTO/SETA
- To be eligible to apply for an Occupational Program a student who previously enrolled for NC(V) or Report 191 programs will only be considered if such a student has fully completed the NC(V) or Report 191 program (passed all subjects).
Additional Requirements for Admission
- In order to improve the quality and performance of specialized programs, the College Council has established new admission requirements for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1, and Report 191 N4 using a point system.
