INTRODUCTION TO SEKHUKHUNE TVET COLLEGE
The Further Education and Training Colleges Act governs Sekhukhune Further Education and Training College, which is a South African public institution authorized by Umalusi (the agency responsible for quality assurance of programs given at general and TVET colleges) (FETC Act no 16 of 2006).
The College was formed by a merging of two colleges, CS Barlow and CN Phatudi, as announced by the Minister of National Education in order to transform the TVET landscape.
The Limpopo Department of Education has registered the Sekhukhune TVET College in accordance with provincial requirements for institution registration, and its EMIS number is 996603305. The college is located in the province of Limpopo’s south-eastern region, and it primarily serves rural communities. Elias Motsoaledi, Greater Marble-Hall, Greater Tubatse, Fetakgomo, and Makhuduthamaga local municipalities are part of the Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality, which has five local municipalities: Elias Motsoaledi, Greater Marble-Hall, Greater Tubatse, Fetakgomo, and Makhuduthamaga.
The College focuses on Engineering, Business, Information Technology, and Utility Studies training, which directly addresses the needs identified by ASGISA (Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa) and JIPSA (Joint Initiative on Priority Skills Acquisition) for skilled people in engineering, financial, and managerial fields, as well as skilled artisans, IT technicians, and employees in the tourism and hospitality fields.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
You will require the following items:
- GET Certificate / ABET Level 4 Certificate / N1 / Copy Certified of most recent school report/statement of results / Grade 9 or higher / GET Certificate / ABET Level 4 Certificate /
To meet the prerequisites for entrance, a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment is required. - 3 certified copies of the learner’s identification
- 3 certified copies of the parent’s or legal guardian’s identification
- a photo of yourself in ID size
Before submitting an application for the program of their choice, applicants will take a placement test.
Every year in September, a placement test is held, and students must register in advance to take the test.

SEKHUKHUNE TVET COLLEGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
NC(V) Courses Requirements
The students are permitted to study for a maximum of four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4 taking into account possible subject failures.
- Minimum entrance requirements are NQF1 i.e. Grade 9 and AET Level 4
- Entry requirements have been guided and aligned to the NC (V) policy. A point system for entry into qualifications will be utilized.
Report 191 Courses Requirements;
- The NATED Policy establishes minimum entry standards.
N4 will admit students who have completed Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4. - Students who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 and choose to pursue a career as an artisan will be admitted to N1 on a point system.
Occupational Course Requirements;
- Minimum admittance requirements based on QCTO/SETA-approved registered Skills Programs/Learnerships.
- A student who has previously enrolled in NC(V) or Report 191 programs will only be considered for an Occupational Program if they have finished the NC(V) or Report 191 program in its entirety (passed all subjects).
Additional Requirements for Adimission
- The College Council has determined additional entry requirements by means of a point system for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1 and Report 191 N4 in an effort to improve the quality and performance of specialized programs.
