All applicants may now apply for Nsafs bursaries for the academic years 2024 and 2025. The Nsfas is constrained by requirements because it is an administrative entity. To ensure that their applications are accepted, applicants must include the Nsfas Requirements as supporting documentation.

Every applicant is made aware that their application will be rejected if they do not meet the requirements. The Nsfas application window for the year 2024 will open to all applicants on November 2, 2023, and close on January 21, 2024. As a result, applicants are urged to submit their applications by the deadline.

Who Qualifies For NSFAS Funding?

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Persons with disabilities: Applicants whose annual household income is not more than R350,000. Students whose annual combined household income is no more than R600,000 Students whose annual combined household income is no more than R122,000.

Who Is Not Qualified For The  2023 Nsfas Funds

  • Students that have completed a previous qualification.
  • students whose families make more than R350,000 annually.
    students who have already applied received funded and fulfilled the criteria. They will receive support for the duration of their education if they pass their modules and satisfy the academic standards.
    College students from abroad (anyone who is not a citizen of South Africa).

The following supporting documents are required for all applicants to be taken into consideration, so make sure you have them before submitting your application. Applications lacking these things won’t be taken into consideration:

  • South African ID document (this can include any of the following):
  • copy of green ID document
  • temporary ID from the DHA
  • copy of both sides of the Smart ID card
  • unbridged birth certificate
  • Non-SASSA grant applicants: Parents, guardians, or spouse ID documents (copies only)
  • If a non-SASSA applicant, proof of income from one’s own, parents, guardians, or spouse is required (any of the following are acceptable).
  • latest payslip if employed (not older than 3 months)
  • UIF letter
  • employment letter
  • retrenchment letter, if a non-SASSA applicant
  • Students with disabilities: complete and sign the Disability Annexure A Form
  • Students who are identified by the Department of Social Development as Vulnerable Children include: complete the Vulnerable Child and sign it.
  • Declaration Form
