The supporting materials that students submit when applying for the program are highly valued by both the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) management team and the students themselves. Everyone who applies has access to this document.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
The following supporting documents must be submitted; if any are missing, your application will not be taken into consideration. Please send clear copies of all of them:
- Payslips, employment letters, and pension advice (not older than three months) (do not submit SASSA slips) Unabridged birth certificate (certified copy and electronic copy if you do not have an ID document or ID card) Unabridged birth certificate (certified copy and electronic copy if you do not have an ID document or ID card) Unabridged birth certificate (certified copy and electronic copy if you do not have an ID document or ID card) Contact information (cell phone number or email address where NSFAS can communicate with you throughout the application process and provide feedback on the outcome of your application) NSFAS Consent Form pdf—completed and signed by parents or guardians If you are disabled, complete and include the NSFAS Disability Annexure A (.pdf) If you are an orphan, complete and include the NSFAS Declaration Form (.pdf)—to be signed by an Isibindi Child Youth Care Worker or a social worker from the Department
HOW TO APPLY
You can apply in one of three ways:
1. METHOD:
- If you want to apply online, follow the steps below on the NSFAS website: 1) Create your myNSFAS account here: When registering for an account, you will be required to provide the following information: https://my.nsfas.org.za/mynsfas/selfservice.html username, password, ID number, phone number, and email address. 2) You can then log in with the username and password you chose. 3) Fill out the application by clicking the “apply” button. 4) After you have filled out all of the required information (don’t leave any fields blank), you can upload electronic copies of your supporting documents (as listed below). To receive your reference number, click the “submit” button after uploading all of your documents.
METHOD 2: At your closest NYDA Centre
- 1) Go to the NYDA center or office that is closest to you.
- 2) You will be given a form to complete and be guided through the application process by a staff member at the NYDA center. 3) Complete the form with a black pen and all capital letters, then sign it where indicated. 4) Submit your application and all required documentation (as listed below). Make sure the front of the page of all of your supporting documents is certified and that they are not more than three months old.
- 5) A receipt card with a bar code will be sent to you.
METHOD 3: At a Financial Aid Office on campus/ computer lab
