The government provides financial help to over a million South African tertiary students through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursary.
NSFAS, in addition to paying a number of fees, provides students with laptop computers and other digital learning tools that they require to complete their higher education. To get these laptops, students must place an online order.
Follow these procedures to place an order and receive your laptop:
- Register at an NSFAS-accredited institution:
- NSFAS-funded students at TVET colleges: You must be a continuing student in 2024 and actively enrolled.
- NSFAS-funded students at universities: To study at any public university, you must be enrolled; both new and returning students may request a learning device.
Complete and submit a form for a Digital Learning Device (DLD) to your campus Financial Aid Office (FAO).
Through the NSFAS website, place your laptop order through the DLD online order portal.
Click myNSFAS to go to the NSFAS website.
To place an order, go to the Online Order portal.
It’s possible that you’ll be asked to provide the name of the institution where you’re registered, a phone number, a different phone number, and a different email address.
Both your order and your personal information will be checked by NSFAS and the establishment where you are registered.
An order for your laptop will be placed with NSFAS service providers to dispatch the device for delivery once the verification process is finished.
The laptop service provider or your institution will contact you to arrange collection or delivery once your laptop is ready.
No one can receive or collect your laptop on your behalf after you have been contacted for delivery and collection; you must be present and sign before it is given to you.
You are required to bring along proof of academic registration or a student card from your institution along with your identification document, such as a birth certificate.
You will be required to accept the terms and conditions outlined by your institution prior to receiving your device.
The digital learning device’s acknowledgement receipt will also require your signature.
