  • In South Africa, numerous businesses offer scholarships to deserving students.
In order to get a job and work experience as soon as you graduate, some organizations require you to “payback” the bursary by working for them.
You can find a comprehensive list of available bursaries in your field on the Bursary Register, which can be found in most high schools and at your university’s financial aid office.

Loans for students

All of the major banks in South Africa—Absa Bank, First National Bank, Nedbank, and Standard Bank—offer student loans to South Africans and non-South Africans with valid study permits.

  • When applying for a bank loan, you will need to provide proof that you are enrolled in an educational institution.
You will also need a surety, such as a parent or a guardian, to sign on your behalf.

The NSFAS Teaching Bursars are your responsibility to pay for.

  • Additionally, you can pay for your own transportation.
By taking a year off from work prior to studying or working part-time while studying, you can earn money to pay for your degree while also gaining valuable work experience.
However, in order to avoid falling behind in either your studies or your career, you will need to schedule enough time for both.
