ABOUT NORTHLINK TVET COLLEGE

In 2002, Northlink College was formed by the merger of Wingfield Technical College (three campuses: Wingfield, Goodwood, and Table Bay), Tygerberg College (Tygerberg and Parow), Protea College, and Bellville Technical College.

Belhar College, a private institution, was purchased by Northlink in 2005. The name is a combination of the terms “north” and “link,” which refers to the institution’s location in Cape Town (which describes the initial linking of the former colleges). It also underlines the importance of the connection between education and the job.

NORTHLINK TVET COLLEGE COURSES ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Report 191 Courses Requirements

  • The NATED Policy establishes minimum entry standards.
    N4 will admit students who have completed Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4.
  • Students who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 and choose to pursue a career as an artisan will be admitted to N1 on a point system.

Requirements for Occupational Courses;

  • Minimum admissions requirements based on registered Skills Programs/Learnerships recognized by the QCTO/SETA.
  • Students who have previously participated in NC(V) or Report 191 programs will only be accepted for an Occupational Program if they have completed the whole NC(V) or Report 191 program (passed all subjects).

Additional Admissions Requirements

  • The College Council has created new admission requirements for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1, and Report 191 N4 utilizing a point system in order to improve the quality and performance of specialized programs.
