ABOUT MTHASHANA TVET COLLEGE REGISTRATION
Mthashana TVET College is located in KwaZulu-Northern Natal’s Region and is served by three district councils: Zululand District Municipality, uMkhanyakude District Municipality, and uMzinyathi District Municipality. The catchment area of Mthashana TVET College is marked by high levels of unemployment, with poverty rates reaching 79 percent in some locations.
The overall population is around 1.4 million people, with only 45 percent employed, 7% having completed grade four, and 36 percent having no formal education.
The foregoing predicament is likely exacerbated by a lack of industry. Mthashana TVET College is in a unique position as a rural college serving primarily underserved populations as a result of this.
This opens up a lot of possibilities, but it also comes with a lot of obstacles. By providing a vital doorway to skills and jobs, this region provides a ray of hope for many young people in the area.
However, the difficulty of not being able to address the demands of all the young people with varied objectives is becoming increasingly difficult. Specifically, because the majority of students attending the college come from low-income families and thus require financial assistance from the state. The means test qualifies more than 95% of applicants for bursaries. Another issue is that some students arrive at college unprepared for college culture, as a result of which they struggle to finish their courses on time or even graduate.
