INTRODUCTION TO MTHASHANA TVET COLLEGE

Mthashana TVET College is located in KwaZulu-Northern Natal’s Region and is served by three district councils: Zululand District Municipality, uMkhanyakude District Municipality, and uMzinyathi District Municipality.
The catchment area of Mthashana TVET College is marked by high levels of unemployment, with poverty rates reaching 79 percent in some locations.

The overall population is around 1.4 million people, with only 45 percent employed, 7% having completed grade four, and 36 percent having no formal education.
The foregoing predicament is likely exacerbated by a lack of industry.

MTHASHANA TVET COLLEGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

NC(V) Course Requirements;

In order to account for possible topic failures, students are allowed to study for a maximum of four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4.
NQF1 (Grade 9) and AET Level 4 are the minimum entry criteria.
The NC (V) policy has led and aligned the entry requirements.
For qualification admission, a point system will be used.

Report 191 Courses Requirements;

The NATED Policy establishes minimum entry standards.
N4 will admit students who have completed Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4.
Students who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 and choose to pursue a career as an artisan will be admitted to N1 on a point system.

Occupational Courses Requirements

Minimum entrance requirements as per registered Skills Program/Learnership approved by QCTO/SETA
To be eligible to apply for an Occupational Program a student who previously enrolled for NC(V) or Report 191 programs will only be considered if such a student has fully completed the NC(V) or Report 191 program (passed all subjects).

Additional Requirements for Admission

In order to improve the quality and performance of specialized programs, the College Council has established new admission requirements for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1, and Report 191 N4 using a point system.
