The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) online application is set to commence on November 2 and close on January 21, 2024. Applicants should be cautious about the application deadline because late applications will not be accepted. As a result, this article explains how to submit an online NSFAS application to any student who meets the exam requirements and wishes to apply for the academic year 2024-2025.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS
- Provide your own cellphone number and email address. You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate, as well as copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse’s National ID. You must also have proof of your income, or, if necessary, one year’s IRP5.
- If you receive an SASSA award, you are not obliged to present any proof of income.
- A completed and signed Disability Annexure A form must be submitted by all applicants with disabilities.
- A Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form must also be submitted by applicants designated as such by the Department of Social Development.
How to Fill Out the NSFAS Online Application
You can use your computer, iPad, or any other smartphone to fill out the NSFAS Online Application for 2024. Before submitting an online application, confirm that you are eligible and possess all required supporting documentation. If you meet the requirements for the NSFAS Application for 2024, continue with the online application process. To get started, follow these steps:
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab

- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Persons with disabilities: Applicants whose annual household income is not more than R350,000. Students who began their education prior to 2018 and whose household income is not in excess of R122 000 per annum are not eligible for admission.
