The Motheo Technical Vocational and Education and Training College was formally established on April 1, 2002, as part of the rationalization of the technical college sector from 152 colleges to 50 mega institutions, laying the groundwork for the new Technical Vocational and Education and Training Sector.
Motheo TVET College merged the previous Bloemfontein, Hillside View, and Thaba Nchu technical colleges, as well as the Kagisanong College of Education.
Motheo Tvet University Motheo Tvet College has a campus called Coltech.
