Dr. Blade Nzimande, the current Minister, changed the name of FET to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
- The College is one of 50 public TVET colleges in South Africa, which are overseen by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). There are eight TVET colleges in Gauteng.
- Ellis Park, Parktown, Alexandra, Riverlea, Langlaagte, Crown Mines, Smit Street, and Troyville are the College’s eight campuses. The eight campuses are located within a 10-kilometer radius of the Parktown Central Office.
- National Technical Education (NATED) and National Certificate (Vocational) NC programs, both of which are nationally accredited, are available through the college (V). Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training verifies the quality of these programs to maintain a national standard.
- Along with the aforementioned programs, the College also provides a few skills training courses in coordination with the appropriate Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA). The relevant SETA Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA) unit accredits the programs and oversees their quality.
